Some of my clients this week are coming to the end of their therapy, which is why this quote from Jon Kabat Zinn resonated with me today.
Typically, people with anxiety and depression see me for eight to 12 sessions (sometimes just six or seven).
By that point they are in control of their thought processes, which means they are in control of their feelings and reactions. They are back in control of their lives.
But of course...
Life happens.
Much of the time the sea will be calm, but sometimes clouds will roll in and the waves will get bigger. 🌊
I can't control the sea. You can't control the sea. But you can learn how to swim.
It's my job to help people understand how their mind works, why they think, act and feel the way they do, and how they can take control of the symptoms of anxiety and depression, or to be free of fears and addictions.
I help people to see the horizon clearly and learn to find and swim in calm waters. But I also empower them to swim through the currents and waves if and when they come. That's the lasting effect of solution focused hypnotherapy.
Curious? I'm always happy to chat about this modern approach to psychotherapy and mental well-being, so please do drop me an email or give me a call at any time.
