Part of maintaining good mental health is to nurture a positive mindset. But when you're feeling low and struggling with depression and anxiety it can be hard to find the positives. Your primitive mind is too busy scanning for threats from which to keep you safe.
So perhaps it will help you to know that positive thoughts or observations can be found in the tiniest things.
You'll still get a hit of feel good chemicals when you acknowledge a small or inconsequential positive.
Here's one of my positives from today:
I just sorted a batch of freshly laundered clothes. In it were 36 socks. The 36 socks yielded...
Wait for it...
18 pairs of matching socks.
That means I had an odd sock-free laundry load! That's like finding a four-leaf clover!
It might seem like a silly little event, but I acknowledged it and enjoyed the moment. I got a kick out of it - some satisfaction- and therefore a little rush serotonin and dopamine. So don't worry if you can't see any big positives yet - look out for the little ones and they'll set you on the right path.

P.S. That is not a photo of our socks - they are far too new and nice.
P.P.S. If you regularly have no odd socks and you can't relate to this post... good for you. I can only aspire to your laundry prowess.
