Let's talk about phobias



If you have a negative physical and emotional reaction to an experience or even the thought of it, you suffer from a phobia.


We can attach phobias to anything from needles, flying, heights, and spiders, to holes, thunder, or the sound of someone chewing.


Phobias can develop due to an obviously upsetting experience or they can appear suddenly and without an apparent explanation. (There is an explanation but it's a bit long for this post!)


I thought I'd talk about phobias today because I am off for my first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine later.


I used to have a phobic reaction to needles. In the lead-up to a nurse's appointment I'd have an upset stomach or even vomit, then once I was in the room I would shake like a leaf and hyperventilate.


By the time I was in my late 20s I would finish the experience by passing out! I can laugh about it now, but the terror was real.


Solution focused hypnotherapy is highly effective at eliminating phobias!


I received treatment for a phobia last year, over Zoom, using the same method I use, and I was free of the phobia after the second session.


It is that session which defuses all the negative emotions and associations with the experience and eliminates the phobic response. It is utterly liberating!


You then have a third session to create a new, positive template around the experience that used to cause a phobic reaction.


Using a combination of hypnotherapy and NLP, even life-long phobias can be overcome completely in just three sessions.
